LAKELAND, Fla. - In dominant fashion, Warner University women's volleyball team breezed through Pensacola Christian College on Saturday morning 3-0 (25-13, 25-14, 25-18). The win evens the Lady Royals' record at 3-3 while keeping Pensacola Christian winless thus far in 2015 at 0-3.
The Lady Royals were impressive at the net in the first two set posting hitting percentage above .300 and recording 30 total kills as a team. In the first set the Lady Royals scored the final six points to go ahead 1-0.
The Lady Royals never trailed in the second set and used a 7-0 run to put the Eagles away. In the third set, the Lady Royals held an 8-7 lead when an
April Climer kill sparked a 4-0 run that put Warner ahead for good.
Adrienne Czaplewski led the way with four kills in the set.
Czaplewski and
Breeanna Navarro led all players with 12 kills in the match. Navarro finished with a .524 hitting percentage en route to an All-Tournament selection.
Angie Pagan-Perez joined Navarro on the All-Tournament team and led all players with a season-high seven service aces. She also added six kills and three digs.
Jenna Swaffer paced the offense with 26 assists and three service aces.
Next week the Lady Royals open the home portion of their 2015 schedule in a big way with the Lady Royals Labor Day Classic at the Turner Athletic Center. The two-day tournament features five teams from three states including Central Methodist University (Mo.), Dickinson State University (N.D.), Florida National University, Ave Maria University and the Lady Royals. Tournament play begins on Friday at 9:30 a.m. and continues Saturday morning at 9 a.m. The Lady Royals' first match comes at 2 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 4, against Central Methodist.
