LAKE WALES, Fla. – In their second Sun Conference game of the season, Warner University men's soccer team lost to Johnson & Wales University 3-1 on Saturday evening. The Wildcats scored once in the first halt then added two goals in the second to hand the Royals their fifth loss of the season (0-5-1).
After nearly 40 minutes of scoreless action, the Wildcats got on the scoreboard in the 39
th minute and carried a 1-0 lead into halftime. The Royals had four shots in the first half but gave up nine to the Wildcats.
In the second half, the Wildcats struck quickly with a goal in the 50
th minute. They added their third of the game in the 61
st minute to take a commanding 3-0 lead.
The Royals prevented the shutout in the 80
th minute when
Rommel Hippolyte scored off an assist by
Christian Galvez.
The last ten minutes of the game went scoreless and the Wildcats emerged victorious 3-1 over the Royals.
The Royals picked up their attacking pressure in the second half adding nine shots to their match total. For the game, however, the Wildcats held a 21-13 edge.
Next week the Royals hit the road for a pair of conference games in Georgia. First on Thursday, Oct. 1, the Royals take on SCAD Savannah in Savannah, Ga. Then on Saturday, Oct. 3, the Royals will be in Thomasville, Ga. to face Thomas University.
