MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – In their second trip to south Florida this week, Warner University women's basketball team lost to St. Thomas University 68-54. The loss is the fourth in a row for the Lady Royals and their third straight in Sun Conference play. The Lady Royals' record now stands at 6-8 overall and 1-3 in league play.
The Lady Royals trailed the Bobcats from the very beginning and never seemed to recover. The Bobcats jumped out to a 21-6 lead in the first quarter and rode the momentum to a 32-23 halftime lead.
I'munique Green led the Lady Royals with 10 first half points with five rebounds as the Lady Royals went 10-for-32 from the field in the first half.
Neither team had success shooting the ball in the third quarter with only 23 total points scored. That changed in the fourth quarter as the two sides combined for 44 points. The Bobcats were in control, however, leading by as many as 21 points late in the game.
Green finished with a team-high 15 points and eight rebounds.
Porsche Shakes also reached double-digits with 10 points.
Isis Mance matched Green with eight rebounds and the Lady Royals outrebounded the Bobcats 45-44.
On Saturday, Jan. 16, the Lady Royals return home after a three game conference road swing to welcome in Keiser University into the Turner Athletic Center. The tip-off is set for 2 p.m. as part of a men's and women's doubleheader.
