Box Score LAKELAND, Fla.- In a game that everyone hoped to see some new faces in, the Royals did not disappoint as they routed University of God's Chosen 73-0 on Saturday afternoon. The first quarter was tied at 0-0 when it ended, however, the rest of the game did not fair too great for the Disciples from God's Chosen. The Royals were able to put up 28 points in the second quarter alone with with
Mark Holmes punching in the first score from the one yard line to open up the Royals offense. After a quick fumble recovery,
Jerome Lindo ran one in from 3 yards out just a minute and a half later to put the Royals up 13-0. After another one yard touchdown run by
Everett Evans, the Royals defense came up big with a safety to make it 22-0.
Bryant Benton would get an easy 4 yard touchdown run to end the half for the Royals and make it 28-0 at the half.
The second half was much of the same for the Royals as they came out fired up. The defense didn't allow a first down for the first 8 minutes of play in the 3rd quarter and only allowed one first down the entire second half. The Disciples had six 3 and outs and one turnover on downs in the second half with the lone first down coming on a 35 yard pass play. The offense kept the ball on the ground for the most part as they got touchdown runs from
Rahim Booker and
Steven Frost in the 3rd quarter immediatley after a Geness Kennedy 42 yard field goal. About mid way through the 3rd,
Ryan Grow took over at quarterback for Frost and threw a 43 yard touchdown strike to Triage McClary. Byron Masoline came in and got a 5 yard touchdown run but the rest of the scoring was through the air for the Royals as Grow threw a 5 yard touchdown pass to Demario Scott and a 32 yard pass to Alexander Vatterot.
The Royals got a lot of young guys some experience on Saturday which is good going forward in the rest of the season. They remain 3-2 (2-1) after the non-countable game against God's Chosen. Warner will travel to Phoenix, Arizona on October 29 to take on Arizona Christian at 12 pm for their next game.
