Box Score VALLEY, Ala.- The Warner University football team went up to Alabama to take on conference opponent Point University. The Royals were able to get on the board first as Geness Kennedy nailed a 25 yard field goal for an early 3-0 lead in the first quarter. On Point's next possession, the Royals defense stepped up big as they recorded a safety to put the Royals up 5-0. The first quarter scoring wasn't finished for the Royals as DJ Davis carried the ball in from 7 yards out for the first touchdown of the game to go up 11-0 as the extra point was no good.

The second quarter was the DJ Davis and Eugene Witherspoon show as Davis connected with Witherspoon twice for touchdown strikes from 29 and 44 yards for a Warner 25-0 lead at halftime. On Warner's first possession of the second half, Davis hooked up with Roger Allen from 15 yards out for another touchdown pass on the day. This put the Royals up with a commanding lead 32-0. After a Point touchdown with 6:22 remaining in the third quarter, the Royals would get the ball back and Wesley Brooks would run it in for a touchdown from 1 yard out as time expired in the third for a 38-7 Warner lead. Both teams would be held scoreless in the fourth quarter and Warner would walk away from the game with a 31 point victory over the Skyhawks.

The Royals were led passing and rushing by DJ Davis who finished with 10 attempts for 86 yardsand a touchdown on the ground and going 11-16 for 138 yards and 3 touchdowns in the air. Warner was led receiving by Eugene Witherspoon who had 4 catches for 85 yards and 2 touchdowns on the day. Defensively, the Royals were led by Alexander Cole, Xavier Hardy, and Drew Clark who all had 5 total tackles on the day. Hardy had 2 tackles for loss and Clark had 2 sacks, 3 tackles for loss, and a fumble recovery.

Next Saturday, October 8, the Royals will once again be away from home as they will go down to Ave Maria to take on the Gyrenes in another SUn Conference matchup. Game time is set for 12 pm.
