Box Score LAKE WALES, Fla.- The men's basketball team was involved in their first dog fight of the season as they were able to overcome a very hot shooting night from visiting Florida College Falcons. In a game that saw both teams shoot over 40% from three point in the game, the Royals were able to survive and remain undefeated on the season. The Falcons came out in the first half and were lights out from behind the arc early and Warner seeemingly had little to no answer at all. The Falcons led for much of the first half before Warner was able to come back and take the lead away and would go into halftime with a 49-48 advantage. The Falcons shot 50% from three point land in the first half to the Royals 37.5%, but Warner would shoot 69% overall to have the lead at halftime.
The hot shooting from Florida College would cool off a bit, but just enough to allow Warner a little breathing room. Whenever it seemed the Royals were going to take control of the game and begin to run away, the Falcons would hit a shot and get themselves back within striking distance. Warner would once again outshoot the Falcons in the second half to come away with a 87-84 victory over the visiting Falcons.
With the win, Warner moves to 4-0 on the season. The Royals were led by
Warren Hall with 45 points.
Nick Macon was the only other Royal in double digits as he dropped in 12 points of his own. Hall,
Josh Ellis, and
Denzel Osson all came away with 4 assists on the night while
AJ Lamb led the team with 6 rebounds.
The Royals will next travel up to Thomas University to open up conference play on Thursday November 17. Game time is set for 8 pm.
