#19 Basketball Earns Sun Conference Win Over Nighthawks

Box Score THOMASVILLE, Ga.- The undefeated men's basketball team had their first scare of the season as they were able to down the Thomas Nighthawks 76-75 to open up Sun Conference play with a victory. The Royals had a good first half as they shot 50% from the field and from three point line to take a 44-38 lead into halftime. The Royals biggest lead of the first half was 11 points at the 7:15 mark. The Royals came out of the gates fast in the second half as they would extend their lead to 14 points within the first three minutes. The Royals would hang on to a comfortable lead until the Nighthawks started their comeback with three minutes left in the game. Thomas chipped away and cut the lead to one with 32 seconds remaining. That is where the drama began as the Nighthawks had a chance to tie the game on a three point play but was unable to make the free throw. The Royals would go to the line to shoot free throws but miss both. Thomas called a timeout with 23 seconds left and a chance to win the game. They set up their play and got a three point shot off before the buzzer, however, it did not fall and the Royals came away victors 76-75. With the win, Warner remains without a loss on the season 5-0 (1-0).
Warner was led by Warren Hall with 29 points and 10 rebounds for a double/double. Josh Ellis added 17 points and Isaac Sutton came away with 14. The Royals will next play, Sun Conference opponent, Florida Memorial at home Saturday November 19 at 4 pm.
