Men's Basketball Handed First Loss Of Season

Box Score LAKE WALES, Fla.- The Royals men's basketball team came into their game against the Florida Memorial Lions undefeated on the season. The Lions were fresh off their upset victory over #6 Keiser on Thursday night, so they were looking to make a huge splash with another upset over the Royals. The Lions made their first four three pointers of the game to start off very hot from the field and go up 12-2 very early. The Royals stayed composed and worked themselves back into the game to stay pace with the Lions. However, the Lions would catch fire again and go on a 21-7 run towards the end of the first half to put them up 35-18 with six minutes remaining. The Lions lead would grow as big as 19 in the first half but go into halftime up thirteen, 41-28.
The Lions hot hand would cool off some in the second half and the Royals would threaten to come back a couple times, but the Lions lead would never fall below double digits in the second half. The Royals and Lions played an even second half in total, but the first half shooting from the Lions would just be too much for the Royals to shake and would fall 78-66 to Florida Memorial. The loss drops the Royals to 5-1 (1-1) on the season.
Warner was led by senior Warren Hall who had 34 points and 8 rebounds. Josh Ellis would add 10 points and Hunter Jump knocked down three 3's to put in 9 of his own. The Royals will take some time off before traveling up to Kingsport, Tennessee to take on Milligan and Robert Morris on November 26-27 in the NAIA Showcase.
