Basketball Comes Up Short in 2OT

Box Score
WEST PALM BEACH, Fla.- The Royals fell in double overtime,92-89, to the Keiser Seahawks in a game that decided who finished first place in the regular season and host The Sun Conference tournament.

The Royals started the game red hot from the field going up 32-23 before the Seahawks were able to find their touch and keep it a ball game at halftime. The Royals seemed to be in cruise control for much of the first half as they looked to be getting the better of the Seahawks. Warner went into halftime up 34-32 and with some momentum to come out strong in the second half and take the regular season title.

The Seahawks came out shooting in the second half but the Royals kept pace to keep the score tight throughout the final half. As the game was winding down it looked as though neither team was going to lose the contest. Keiser went up by five late but a huge 3 pointer from Antonio Ansley made it a two point game with a minute remaining. Keiser missed a shot on their possession and Warren Hall was able to hit a jumper from the elbow to tie the game at 69 and send the Royals and Seahawks to overtime.

Neither team refused to go away in the first OT. Once again the Royals got some late heroics to tie the game with 5 seconds remaing, this time by Josh Ellis. Hall drove the lane and dished to Ellis who was fouled with :05 showing on the clock. With the Royals down two, Ellis stepped to the line with ice in his veins and hit both free throws to send the game into a second OT.

Keiser took a four point lead into the final 30 seconds when Hall hit a big three to bring the Royals within a point. A couple made free throws by Keiser set the stage once again for the Royals to come up with another last second shot in hopes to go to overtime number three. However, the Royals Jamie Anderson and Antonio Ansley weren't able to hit from behind the 3 point line and the Royals fell in a great effort to Keiser in double overtime.

Hall led all scorers with 33 points while Ellis had 18, Eddie Delegal had 16, and Ansley had 14.

The Royals wrap up their regular season with senior day Saturday February 20 at home versus Thomas University. Game time is set for 4 pm.
