Box Score BABSON PARK — When
Eddie Delegal walked off the court after fouling out with just over six minutes to go, Warner could have let one slip against rival Webber International.
The senior was one of the few Royals shooting the ball well two days after the team dropped 97 points in an overtime win over Southeastern. But rather than fall apart, Warner steadied the ship and won the game going away.
The Royals scored 15 of the game's final 21 points to beat the Warriors 82-71 at the Sabbagh Athletic Center and remain right in the hunt for The Sun Conference title.
"It was huge," said Warner coach
Sean Hanrahan. "We had to play more than half the game without (Delegal). For 22 minutes that he usually plays — he's a senior, he's an upperclassman, he's an All American — you can't replace that with one guy."
While star guard
Warren Hall scored 23 points — albeit on 4-of-17 shooting — it was Warner's role players who stepped up after Delegal departed. Forward
Josh Ellis scored seven of his 16 points in the final five minutes, including a pair of layups and the foul, to put the game away.
A.J. Lamb, the Royals' 7-foot center, finished with four points and five rebounds in 11 minutes off the bench but made an impact defensively based on sheer size and length.
