Box Score LAKE WALES, Fla.- Three Royals players scored in double digits and
Eddie Delegal dropped his eleventh double-double of the season as the Royals took care of Sun Conference opponent Florida Memorial 79-66 Thursday night in the Turner Athletic Center.
Warren Hall finished with a game high 24 points,
Antonio Ansley dropped in 22 points, and Delegal finshed with 23 points to go along with 12 rebounds.
The Royals started off hot going up 9-2 quickly in the contest but Florida Memorial was able to come back and close the gap. The Royals, however, pulled away and maintained a comfortable lead for much of the first half. Some timely shots to finish the half by the Lions pulled the Royals lead to nine at half time with Warner up 39-30. The Lions were hot from behind the arc in the first half shooting 8-14 (57%), but Ansley was equally impressive shooting 4-5 (80%) from three-point land to keep the Lions scoring at bay and go into halftime as the game high scorer with 15 points.
The second half for the Royals featured the duo of Delegal and Hall combining for 30 of the teams 40 points scored. At the half, the Royals clamped up their permimeter defense and held the Lions to only 2-8 (25%) from three in the final 20 minutes of play. The Royals hit a lot of key free throws late to keep the Lions' hopes of any comeback down.
Jamie Anderson put in some quality minutes as well, as he came down with 8 rebounds and 8 assists to go along with 2 steals.
The Royals improve their overall record to 18-5 and 9-2 in conference play. Warner is back in action at Ave Maria on Saturday, February 6 at 4 p.m.
