Box Score LAKE WALES — The No. 11 Warner University men's basketball team battled cross county, in-conference rivals, The Southeastern men's basketball team to a thrilling 97-96 OT win.
Eddie Delegal tipped in a last-second game-tying shot to send the game to overtime and
Warren Hall did just enough at the end of the extra period to give Warner a frantic 97-96 overtime victory over Southeastern in a Sun Conference thriller on Thursday night at Turner Athletic Center.
Southeastern had rallied from 20 points down with 10 minutes left to take an 85-83 lead with 15 seconds left. Warner worked the ball down the court and Hall got off a 3-pointer that was rebounded by
Nick Macon who's put-back jumper was long. A scramble ensued under the basket until Delegal finally corralled the ball and scored the extending basket with no time remaining.
In overtime, it was a 3-pointer from Hall and a few free throws down the stretch that sealed the second overtime victory for Warner (16-5, 7-2) against Southeastern (14-9, 4-6) this season. Southeastern had a chance to tie the game with 10 seconds left but a pass intended for Jake Hodges just slipped out of his hands as he was going up for an open layup.
"They have a lot of heart," Warner coach
Sean Hanrahan said. "They're well coached. Every team we play against we expect a very tough game. I was excited about our guys. I was excited that every time they pushed, we pushed back. We just ended up with the ball last. That's probably why we won."
