Royals Hold Off Gyrenes In Win

Box Score AVE MARIA, Fla.- The Royals travelled down to Ave Maria on Saturday to face off with the Gyrenes in a conference match-up winning by the score of 72-64. The Royals led much of the first half but the Gyrenes refused to go away and would tie the game at 35 late in the half. A three pointer by Antonio Ansley would give the Royals the lead for the rest of the half and go in up 40-37.

The Gyrenes came out in the second half and took a lead for a small amount of time but the Royals would get hot and go on a 6-1 run to get the lead back. At 5:50 left in the second half, Warren Hall knocked down a pair of free throws to give the Royals a 60-59 lead, and they would not trail again the rest of the game. The Gyrenes attempted a comeback but another run by the Royals put a stop to it and they never looked back taking the game by 8 points.

The Royals were paced by a couple of double-doubles by Hall and Eddie Delegal. Hall finished with 33 points and 11 rebounds, while Delegal came away with 13 points and 11 rebounds. The Royals are back in action at the friendly Turner Athletic Center Wednesday, February 10. Tip off is set for 7:30 p.m.
