Siesta Key, Fla.- On April 9-10, the Lady Royals Sand Volleyball team competed in the Inaugural Small College National Championship at Fiesta on Siesta Key, finishing in 2
nd place. The two-day tournament consisted of six small colleges in the NAIA, NCAA DII, and NCAA DIII.
Saturday, the Lady Royals went 1-1 defeating Principia College 5-0, and losing to Eckerd College (0-5). Finishing 2
nd in their pool, the Lady Royals moved into Quarter Finals on Day two.
In the Quarter Finals on Sunday, matched Warner against Missouri Baptist. The Lady Royals defeated Lady Spartans 3-2. Moving to the Semi Finals, Warner was matched up against familiar opponent Webber International. After splitting their matches earlier this season, the Lady Royals came out on top winning 3-2 over the Warriors, which put Warner in the first-ever Small College National Championship match.
Re-matched against Eckerd College, the Lady Tritons defeated the Lady Royals 0-5, ending the tournament in 2
nd place.
"This was a great weekend for our team and I'm extremely proud of the results from all the hard work they put in this season. It isn't easy to play this many matches over two days, so for us to come out 2
nd place is such amazing feat" said Coach Moskovits.
The Lady Royals finish the season playing NCAA DI, Stetson University on Wednesday, April 13 at Webber International at 10:30 a.m.
