Royals Play at Home and Split 1-1 in Conference Matches

Lakeland, Fl. – March 21, 2026 – The Warner University beach volleyball team had their first home matches at Santa Fe Catholic School in Lakeland. The Royals went 1-1 against two conference teams.

 

March 21 – St. Thomas 4, Warner 1 

  • Pair 1: Ramirez/Cruz (STU) def. Cooley/Fassnacht (WU) – 22-24, 21-11, 15-13
  • Pair 2: Ramos/Solabarrieto (STU) def. Dumont/Anderson (WU) – 21-15, 21-11
  • Pair 3: Coates/Torres (STU) def. McDermott/Amer (WU) – 21-18, 23-21
  • Pair 4: Laboy/De Jesus (WU) def. Sierra/Tavarez (STU) – 21-11, 21-12
  • Pair 5: Moore/De Jesus (STU) def. Coggins/Gibson (WU) – 21-10, 21-8

Match Recap:

While the Royals didn't secure the overall win, each pair showed grit and competed for their team. Pair 1, Leah Cooley and Ashlyn Fassnach, fell short in a thrilling three set match against STU (22-24, 21-11, 15-13). Skye McDermott and Antonia Amer competed to take STU into a third set but fell short 21-18, 23-21. Pair 4, Imar Laboy and Julia De Jesus  showed great determination in their straight-set victory for the Royals only win in the matchup. 

 

March 21 – Warner 4, Florida Memorial 1

  • Pair 1: Cooley/Fassnacht (WU) def. Roberts/Lester (FMU) – 21-15, 21-6
  • Pair 2: Carneiro/Medina (FMU) def. Dumont/Anderson (WU) – 19-21, 21-18, 15-12
  • Pair 3:  Laboy/De Jesus (WU) def. Edwards/Cardona (FMU) – 22-20, 21-14
  • Pair 4: McDermott/Coggins (WU)  def. Henderson/Maddox (FMU) – 21-14, 21-7
  • Pair 5: Holmbeck/Crossman (WU) def. Clendinen/Alonso (FMU) – 21-10, 21-12

Match Recap:

In the second match of the day, the Royals took a 4-1 victory over Florida Memorial University. Pair 5, Nova Holmbeck and Reese Crossman, controlled and won their match against FMU 21-10, 21-12. Pair 1 and 4, both dominated the matches against their opponents taking the wins in two sets. Again, Imar Laboy and Julia De Jesus went undefeated this weekend being a virtual pair for the Royals. The duo won their match in straight sets (22-20, 21-14).
