Box Score LAKE WALES, Fla.- The Tampa Spartans made the trip over to Lake Wales to take on the Warner men's soccer team Tuesday night. The story of the game was the ability to capatalize on opportunities. For much of the first half, the Royals did a good job of controlling possession of the ball and getting open looks to the goal. However, they were unable to put the shots on their mark. The Spartans, on the other hand, made the most of the chances they had and scored goals on 4 of the 8 shots they had in the first half to take a 4-0 lead into halftime.
The second half was much of the same story. The Royals played hard and tough throughout the match and made the visiting Spartans work for everything on the offensive and defensive ends of the field. In the second half, the Royals were able to get two shots on goal but the Tampa goalkeeper was there both times to stop the ball. Tampa was able to put away another four shots to complete the shutout of the Royals 8-0. The score would not dictate how the game was played as the Royals were able to control much of the tempo and possession. Tampa was able to capatalize on mistakes and breakaways late to make it a runaway match for them.
Warner will be back on the field Friday September 16 at 7 p.m. as they take on Faulkner University at home.
