Royals Upset By Wildcats

Box Score LAKE WALES, Fla.- The Warner men's basketball team came into Thursday nights conference game against Johnson and Wales Wildcats on a nine game winning streak, however, the Royals would not be able to extend their streak to 10 games as they fell 64-55. Despite the Royals outshooting the Wildcats in the first half, they found themselves down 26-22 at halftime. With the score tied at 12 apiece, the Wildcats went on a 9-2 run to find themselves with a 21-14 lead with 4:18 remaining in the half. The Royals would cut the lead to 21-20 but the Wildcats would hit a couple late baskets to hold on to a four point lead at halftime. The second half was not good to the Royals as they only shot 36% from the field and the Wildcats shot 59%. The Royals would take a 44-39 lead with 11:21 left in the game but the Wildcats went on a 19-3 run to take a 58-47 lead with 4:24 left in the contest. That run took the wind out of the Royals sails as they never regained any momentum and was unable to make a comeback. The Royals would fall to the Wildcats 64-55 and fall to 14-2 (3-2) on the season.
The Royals were led by Warren Hall who had 22 points in the game. Warner will be back in action Saturday January 7 at 4 pm against #21 St. Thomas Bobcats in the Turner Athletic Center.
