GAME RECAP
The Bears were the first to reach the endzone with a 30-yd pass from quarterback Sani Warren to Arites Clark on the opening drive of the first quarter. The on the Royals opening drive, quarterback
Andre Tommie took the Royals 9-plays for 66 yards finishing off the drive with a 7-yd connection to
Jeff Suarez. On the next drive by the Bears, the Royals
William Bethel jumped in front of a Sani Warren pass, intercepting the ball and handing it back to the Royals in the redzone after just 3 plays. Warner capitalized on the next drive as it took them 5 plays, but
Javon Wilson punched it in for 1-yd and his first TD of the day. The Royals defense again came up huge as
Cyle Watts took a 50-yd interception untouched into the endzone. A blocked extra point attempt by
Ryan Hernandez left the Royals with a 20-7 lead. At the start of the 2
nd quarter, UPIKE completed a 6-play drive with an 11-yd scramble by Willie McCloud for a TD cutting the Royals lead to 20-14. With just second remaining in the 1
st half, The Royals finalized a 7:01 minute possession with 11-plays for 71-yds on another 1-yd power TD from
Javon Wilson giving them the 27-14 lead heading into halftime.
The 2
nd half was a defensive battle between both teams. UPIKE struck first with a 14-yd pass from Sani Warren to Arites Clark for a TD. Then the Royals capitalized again on a late turnover by the Bears with a 37-yd burst from
Bryant Benton for a TD and give the Royals an eventual 34-21 win.

FINAL THOUGHTS
The Warner University Royals improve to 4-5 overall as they head to their final game of the season next weekend against the rivals from across the lake in the Crooked Lake Rivalry game. The Royals and Warriors sit at 2-2 in the Mid-South Conference, so the game brings more than just normal bragging rights.
