Lady Royals Record Breaking Season Ends In TSC Semifinals

MIAMI, Fla. - The Warner University 2017 Women's Soccer team ended it's Sun Conference Tournament run against Keiser University with a 0-2 loss.

GAME RECAP

The Royals were on the wrong end of an offensive barrage by the Seahawks. Warner was out shot 24-1 by Keiser in the game and took a 0-2 loss. The Royals defense was unspeakably strong as they only let 9 of the 24 shots reach the goal. Sarah Bergkvist was phenomenal saving 7 and only letting in 2 goals.
The Seahawks Emma Holmskov and Analisa Garraputa both scored off crossing passes. Kristen Isabelle registered the only shot for the Royals. Warner had a couple early breakaway chances but were unable to capitalize.

FINAL THOUGHTS
The lady Royals took unspeakable leaps from last years team. The 2016 overall record was 4-11 with a TSC of 2-8. In this 2017 season, they improved to an 8-8 overall record with a TSC of 5-5. During 2017, several records were broken. They set the best winning percentage in program history while finishing just shy of the overall win record. The lady Royals reached a winning streak never before reached in Warner Women's Soccer History. They strung together 5 straight wins which not only sets the record for longest streak in Warner Women's Soccer History, but 4 of the 5 games were TSC making it also a record setting 4 straight Sun Conference wins.
The lady Royals were coached by first year head coach Payton Chitwood. Coach Chitwood had this to say about his Royals, "I'm extremely proud of the overall growth and the way they blossomed at the end of the year. Lots of adjustments early on, but they bought in and I'm glad. I'm impressed with how they did on and off the field and proud to have coached this group of girls." Chitwood was then asked his thoughts about his record setting year, "This year was a product of details, records don't mean very much to me, what does, is how the team treated each other individually and the teammate relationships developed. When the little details are taken care of, the rest will follow." The lady Royals also put up a rare 6 individuals that scored game winning goals this season.
