Huge Second Half Propels Royals To Victory

Box Score MIAMI, Fla.- The Warner men's basketball team went back down to Miami for the second time in only four days to take on the St. Thomas Bobcats have Tuesday night. On a short week for the Royals that pitted them against two of the top three teams in the conference, the Royals used a big second half that pushed them to victory over the Bobcats, 76-67. The first half was low scoring for both teams but especially for the high powered offense of the Royals. Warner only shot 27% from the floor and 15% from beyond the arc in the first half. The Royals did not hit double digits on the scoreboard until 9:07 left in the half where they also found themselves down 8 points. The Royals would come back and tie the score up at 22, but the Bobcats would get another run and take a 29-22 lead into halftime. The break set the stage for the Royals to come back and shoot the basketball lights out. In the second half the Royals shot 57% from the field and 55% from three point. Their run started at the 11:55 mark when they were down ten points. By the 7:20 point of the game, the Royals had a 2 point lead and would finish a 14-2 run. The Royals and Bobcats would go back and forth for a bit before the Royals would pull away and finish the game 8-8 from the free throw line to come away with a big Sun Conference win, 76-67. The Royals improved to 23-4 (11-4) on the season following the win. They were led by Warren Hall with 25 points and Josh Ellis with 23 points. Warner will complete their regular season Thursday night in the TAC against Thomas at 8 pm.
