Box Score 2 PLANT CITY, Fla.- The Royals softball team took on Point and Cumberland University Saturday, in Plant City. The first game of the day, the Royals faced their first loss of the season against the Point University Hawks.
Caylin Delones started off the game with a single scoring on an error off of
Madison Mihok's bunt.
Jessica Adams then doubled scoring Mihok making it a 2-0 ball game in the top of the first. The Hawks answered back in the bottom of the third inning, scoring two off of single and a homerun. Each team recorded two hits until the ninth inning when the Royals went ahead scoring three runs off of three hits, leaving one on base. Point took the win in the bottom of the ninth scoring four runs off of two hits making it a 5-6 ball game.
The Royals fell behind early against the Cumberland Pioneers in the second game of the day. The Pioneers scored four runs in the first two innings of the game. The Royals fought back and took the lead in the fourth after
Sara Bruno doubled to start the inning. They then accumulated four more hits from Crockett, Hammett, Mihok and Scott putting them at a 5-4 lead. Cumberland retaliated with six hits scoring five runs, leaving one on base. Coming into the seventh inning, the Lady Royals continued to fight back but just fell short 12-14.
