Box Score MIAMI, Fla.- The Royals men's basketball team won The Sun Conference tournament title for the second straight year, defeating Florida Memorial 79-63 Tuesday night. The Royals and Lions played a tight first half with the biggest lead by either team was six points by Florida Memorial when the score was 6-0. The Royals gained a five point lead at the 13 minute mark when they were up 14-9 for their largest lead of the first half. Both teams came back and tied the contest up each time and after the 12:23 point of the first half, neither team led by more than four points. The Royals and Lions went into halftime tied at 27-27. The Royals jumped out quick on top of the Lions in the second half, building up a ten point lead, 46-36, within the first eight minutes of the second half. From there the Royals never looked back and tacked on to their lead. Over the course of the next six minutes, the Royals would go on a 17-6 run to go up by 21 points, 63-42, with only 6:45 remaining in the game. The Royals would hit the cruise control button and twice build their largest lead of the game of 22 points on the Lions before defeating them 79-63 to win the conference title. The Royals were led in the game by
Warren Hall who had 35 points along with
Josh Ellis with 22 points, and
Nick Macon with 11 points. The Royals will now await their tournament bid into the NAIA National Tournament held at the College of the Ozarks.
