Royals Win Lawrenceville Bracket- Move On To NAIA World Series

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga.- The Royals took on the #1 seed and host Georgia Gwinnett Grizzlies in the championship game of the NAIA Opening Round Wednesday afternoon. The Royals did not waste any time taking the championship home and punching their ticket to the NAIA World Series in Clermont, Florida with a 2-0 victory of Georgia Gwinnett. The big blow for the Royals in this game came off the bat off catcher, Sara Bruno as she blasted a two run no doubt homerun over the left field fence in the third inning. The two runs would be all the support Chelsie Valentine would need in the game. Valentine finished with a complete game shut out, striking out five batters, and allowing only three hits on the day. Valentine only allowed one base runner between the second and fifth innings and that one base runner was caught stealing. The Grizzlies threatened in the sixth inning but Valentine got a huge strikeout with the tying run on second base to end the inning. Valentine would then pitch a perfect seventh to send the Royals on to Clermont and a chance for a NAIA World Series championship. The Royals earned the #7 seed in the World Series and will open up play on May 26 at 10 am against the #10 seeded Ottawa University Braves at the very familiar PFX Athletics Complex in Clermont, Florida.
