LAKE WALES, Fla. – On the road in Lakeland, Warner used its power duo
Khalil Ozuna and
Melton Sanders to take down the Fire 104-102. The Royals improve to (14-7) overall and a TSC record of( 6-4).
Ozuna notched another double-double with 27 points 13 rebounds 1 assist and 1 block.
Melton Sanders bolstered his average with 29 points, 3 rebounds 1 assist and 1 steal.
The Royals jumped out early to a 7-0 lead with a
Khalil Ozuna layup, followed by a
Melton Sanders layup and a nothing but net 3 pointer from
Adam Giger. The Royals held a 14 point lead 40-26 with 6 minutes left in the first half. Southeastern caught Fire and began to burn the lead eventual eroding the score to 51-47 in favor of the Royals. Warner shot 64.7% from the field and 62.5% from beyond the arch hitting both of their free-throws in the first half. Southeastern shot just 50% from the field and the arch while hitting 6 of 7 of their free-throws.
The second half was a battle until the end. The Royals jumped out to their largest lead of the night at 16 points following a
Nick Macon jumper for 2. With 13:43 left on the clock, the Royals led 74-58. Warner maintained a 10+ lead until just less than 5 minutes when the Fire cut the lead eventually to just 1 point at 100-99. With the Fire in a must foul situation they gave the ball to the dangerous
Melton Sanders who drained both of his shots. A quick turnover forced another foul where
Nick Macon knocked both down and sent the (RV) Royals home with a 104-102 road victory over the (15) SEU Fire.
Warner will welcome the Ave Maria Gyrenes to the TAC on Saturday January 20
th at 4:00 p.m. for their next game.
