Warner Football - Royals Fall To Gyrenes In Last Game Of The 2018 Season


AVE MARIA, Fla. - Despite the Royals and Gyrenes matching up in virtually every stat category, it was Ave Maria that came out on top 31-21.
 
The Royals finished up with 358 total yard to the Gyrenes 363 yards. The Royals put together 170 yards rushing and 188 yards through the air. The Royals played a clean game only being flagged for 3 penalties on the night. 
 
On the 3rd play of the Royals first possession, Michael Young connected with Kevin Laws for a 71 yard Touchdown. 
 
The Gyrenes answered with a 33 yard pass touchdown by Kevon O'Connor tying things up at 7-7. 
 
In the 2nd quarter, the Gyrenes were the only ones to find the score board on another 31 yard connection this time by D. Hirsch, extending the lead to 14-7. 
 
After 24 unanswered Gyrene points, the Royals reached paydirt as Deontae Bradley rushed for 17 yards and then broke away with a 30 yard rush for a touchdown in back to back rushing attempts.
 
The Royals scored again late in the 4th quarter off an 8 yard pass from Michael Young to Theodore Hammonds for a touchdown. 
 
Justin Dalton finished out his season perfect in extra point attempts 23-23 and as the Royals leading scorer for the season with 56.
 
Michael Young completed 11 for 21 passing attempts for 148 yards through the air and 2 touchdowns in his best showing of the season, he also added 8 rushing attempts for 48 yards on the ground. Young found Kevin Laws for 110 yards through the air in his biggest game of the season including a 71 yard connection in the 1st quarter. Theodore Hammonds also found the end zone off an 8 yard connection from Young. On the ground Deontae Bradley rushed 11 times for 72 yards and a touchdown. Bradley averaged 6.5 yards a carry in the game. 
 
Defensively, Emmanuel Bien-Aime finished the night with 11 tackles with 4 solo tackles. Four Royals finished with 8 tackles, Rodelson Petit, Drew Clark, Demetrius Amerson and William Bethel. 
 
With tonight's game, the Royals finish out their 2018 campaign with a 2-8 overall record and 2-4 in the Mid-South Conference Sun Division.
