Columbia, SC – In what turned out to be a complete nail biter down to the very last shot taken, our Warner Lady Royals Soccer team came away with a stunning victory over the Columbia International University Rams 4-3 in penalty kicks.
With this win the Lady Royals advance to the NCCAA Championship!
The game was a defensive battle from start to finish, both teams exhausted all of their weapons and left everything out on the field. This was one of the most thrilling finishes Warner Soccer has had all season!
The Lady Royals were determined to win this game and would not accept anything short of that!
Goalie
Sarah Bergkvist, who had 5 saves, and the Lady Royals defense kept the Rams at bay most of the game, only allowing the Rams to fire off 9 shots.
This is the Royals 12
th win of the season and a new school record for most wins in a single season. Head Coach
Payton Chitwood has done a remarkable job turning the program around and creating a successful environment for the team.
The Lady Royals will enjoy this win but are not done yet as the quest for the NCCAA Championship has just begun. Stay tuned for more Lady Royals Soccer very soon!
