LAKE WALES, Fla. – This afternoon the Royals played host to the University of Rio Grande Red Storm, in the 2^nd game of the Holiday Inn Express Tournament.
 
The Royals won the 1^st game of the Holiday Inn Express tournament yesterday vs Midland University and entered today's game with a 9-6 overall record.
 
The Red Storm came into the game Wednesday with a 7-6 overall record and came out ready to play vs the Royals.
 
After duking it out for 2 halves, the Royals were able to come away with the big home win 100-88. This is 1^st time all year the Royals have scored 100 points!
 
The 1^st half was a back and forth battle that had 8 lead changes and saw a lot of physical play with 17 total fouls in the half.
 
Warner went into halftime with a 50-45 lead over the Red Storm and were shooting an incredible 50% from the field in the 1^st half.
 
The Royals had 2 players in double-digit points at the end of the 1^st half:

• Jalen Williams had 10 points at the half
• Khalil Ozuna led all scorers at half time with 13 points

 
The Red Storm came out hot in the 2^nd half and almost immediately took back the lead.
 
The Royals and Red Storm continued to go back and forth for most of the 2^nd half; there were 12 total lead changes in the game, but with 5 minutes left in the game the Royals took a commanding lead and never let the Red Storm get any momentum going and were able to seal their 6^th win at home this season.
 
Warner had 4 different players score double-digits points in tonight's win:

• Khalil Ozuna – 21 points
• Jalen Williams – 18 points
• Darryl Mercer Jr. – 18 points
• Jaylan Shelton – 17 points

 
The Royals will have nice break before they take the court again on January 3^rd, and look to recoup and recover before beginning the conference heavy part of their schedule!
