The Royals offense opened up with 8 runs off 11 hits in their home opening game.
Sara Bruno got things started in the bottom of the 1
st when she homered knocking in
Chantal Crockett. Then in the 2
nd,
Amy Latner grounded out to 3b with a bunt advancing
Megan Hammett to third then Hammett scored on the over throw from the outfield. S. Bruno flied out to lf in the 3
rd giving her a sacrifice fly and an RBI scoring Crockett. In the bottom of the 5
th, Hammett reached on an error by the Cardinal left fielder and that also advanced
Avery Cotterill to second;
Kayla Bruno advanced to third;
Paris Cook scored as a pinch runner. Latner hit a shot out to left field that score K. Bruno. S. Bruno them walked with bases loadedgiving her an RBI and scoring
Kasey Heslin. K. Bruno finished things out in the bottom of the 6
th with a high fly ball to center that scored
Cortney Bunker and gave the Royals a game 1 win 8-0.
Jordan Lewis pitched a phenomenal game throwing 5 complete innings only surrendering 2 hits. The big story of the day was that Lewis only walked one batter while striking out 11 of the 15 batters faced.

The second game
Cortney Bunker led off with a liner to left field. She followed up by stealing to second. She advanced on a fly ball then drove home on a wild pitch by the Cardinals giving the Royals a 1-0 lead. In the 3
rd inning,
Chantal Crockett reached on a fielder's choice as she bunted her way on scoring
Kasey Heslin. Later in the inning with bases stocked full of Royals,
Avery Cotterill singled on a bunt scoring Bunker. Following that, Crockett swiftly moved on a passed ball by the Cardinals allowing her to score uncontested. The Royals added two more runs to finish off the Cardinals 7-0.
On the mound was Silvia Welsh who threw a complete game gem giving up 7 hits over 7 innings of work while striking out 3 giving herself the win.
