Bunker Extends Hit Streak To 7-Straight, Lady Royals Win 3rd Straight Game

PLANT CITY, Fla. – Jordan Lewis continues her hot start off the rubber picking up her 3rd win. Cortney Bunker extends her hitting streak to 7 straight games with 5 of those games registering multiple hits.

GAME 1
The Knights came out swinging in the top of the 1st. They were able to go ahead with a 1-0 lead by the end of the inning. It wasn't until the 3rd inning that the bats came alive for the Royals when Cortney Bunker singled and with an error on the throw to first she was able to advance to second. Right up after her Chantal Crockett drove a line drive to left center scoring Bunker and achieving a double for herself. Sara Bruno was right there with her to answer with a hard shot single up the middle, Crockett's speed allowed her to score putting the score 2-1 at the end of the inning. The Lady Royals tacked on another run in the 4th when Avery Cotterill started the inning with a bunt for a base hit. Megan Hammett followed suite with a sac bunt to advance Cotterill to second. Kayla Bruno shot a single up the middle allowing Cotterill to score from second. Another big hit came in the 6th inning. Cotterill started it with a single to left field. Hammett laid a sac bunt to third allowing Cotterill to advance to second. The big hit came for Madison Taylor who launched a double to left field scoring Cotterill putting the score up to 4-1 giving the Royals the win.
Sylvia Welsh threw all 7-innings allowing 9 hits, 1 run and dishing out 4 strike outs.
 
GAME 2
In the top of the 1st the Lady Royals struck first. Cortney Bunker slapped a single to center to start off, followed by Chantal Crockett who singled to center as well advancing Bunker. Sara Bruno was able to get a sac bunt down to move Bunker to third and Crockett to second. Briana Barrios was able to reach on an error by the Knights first baseman allowing Bunker to score and Crockett to advance to third with the inning ending 1-0. Unfortunately, the Knights answered back with a run of their own in the 3rd. It wasn't until the top of the 5th that the Royals were able to add another run to the board. Crockett reached first when the Knights short stop bobbled the ball. S. Bruno sent a shot to left field where an error was made allowing Crockett to score. In the 6th inning the flood gate opened for the Lady Royals. Cotterill started it off with a single to left field followed by Hammett with a bunt for a base hit advancing Cotterill to second. K. Bruno sac bunted to advance both runners. Madison Taylor laid down a bunt allowing Cotterill to score and was safe at first advancing Hammett. Mckenzye Bobb grounded out to the pitcher allowing Hammett to score and Taylor to advance. Bunker was up again bunting for a base hit and scoring Taylor. Crockett singled to the short stop advancing Bunker. S. Bruno came up with a big double scoring Bunker and Crockett. Barrios was next with a single to right center allowing S. Bruno to score, making the score 8-1. Although the Knights answered back with 3 more runs, the Lady Royals were able to put the game away and came out with the 8-4 victory.
Jordan Lewis pitched all 7 innings having 3 walks, 5 strike outs, and only 4 runs allowed.
