LAKE WALES, Fla. – The Royals fall to 7-4 overall and a Sun Conference 2-4 with the drop to Florida Memorial.
GAME 1
Florida Memorial came out swinging scoring 3 runs in the top of the 1
st but the Royals answered back with 3 runs of their own within the same inning.
Cole Parks started it off with a singled to third base.
Rio Russell hit a hot shot double down the left field line to score Parks and earning himself a double making the score 3-1.
Junior Fermin walked, and during the next at bat Fermin and Russell stole their respected bases.
Jesse Haney walked as well loading the bases for the Royals.
Jesse Alker hit a sac fly to left field scoring Russell.
Kevin Troncoso singled to the pitcher advancing Haney to second and Fermin to third.
Derek Deler sent a shot to left field allowing 2 runs to score and earning a single for himself. The inning ended at 4-3. Florida Memorial added on 3 more runs in the next inning when the Royals gave up a 3 run homerun making the score 6-4. In the bottom of the second Parks walked on his at bat where he was able to advance to second and steal third. Fermin came up and reached on a fielder's choice where he advanced to second and Parks scored on an error from the Memorial pitcher bringing the score 6-5. Florida memorial brought it 5 more runs in the next few innings making the score 11-5. In the bottom of the 6
th the Royals answered back with runs of their own.
Alfred Brown walked. Parks popped up allowing Brown to reach second. Russell singled to first moving Brown to third then Russell stole second. Fermin walked his at bat loading the bases for the Royals. Haney walked scoring Brown and advancing the runners. A pitching change was made for Florida Memorial, then Alker singled to left field allowing Russell and Fermin to score. The score at the end of the inning was 11-8. Florida Memorial tacked on one more run near the end of the game, but the Royals bats stayed silent allowing Memorial to take the win 12-8.
GAME 2
Florida Memorial again struck first blood in the 4
th and then in the 6
th taking a 3-0 lead. That was until
Junior Fermin and
Jesse Alker hit back to back triples to get the Royals on the board. In the bottom of the 7
th,
Kevin Troncoso scored on a bases loaded wild pitch from the Lions cutting the lead to a Lions 3-2. The Lions hit a solo homerun in the top of the 8
th followed by adding 4 more runs in 9
th to an eventual 8-2 win over the Royals.
GAME 3
Florida Memorial came through in the top of the 1
st where a single and a wild pitch and a fly out scored 1 run for the Tigers. In the bottom of the 3
rd the Royals pressured the Tigers.
Derek Deler singled to left field and advanced to second on a walk by Tinny Mick;
Alfred Brown came in as a pinch runner for Mick.
Cole Parks came up with another walk advancing the runners. Unfortunately,
Rio Russell hit into a double play. Parks advanced to second and Brown to third. The Royals couldn't capitalize. Memorial put up 2 more runs in the 4
th inning and another 2 in the 5
th making the score 5-0. In the bottom of the 7
th Junior Fermin singled to start the inning off.
Kevin Troncoso walked and stole second but that was all the Royals were able to produce for the game that ended with a 5-0 loss.
