Royals Drown Sand Sharks In TSC Matchup

LAKE WALES, Fla. – The Royals continue to prove powerful at home flexing their bats with 10 hits and 13 runs over the Sand Sharks of South Carolina Beaufort who had 4 hits off 3 runs. Rafael Astacio hit a solo homerun to the opposite field and Jesse Haney and Alker registered 3 RBI a piece.

The Royals jumped out early plating 2 off a Jesse Haney single up the middle. The Sand Sharks answered in the top of the 2nd with an RBI single of their own from Triplett. The Royals added 5 more runs in a huge bottom of the 2nd. Cole Parks hit into a fielders choice that scored Rafael Astacio. Haney then drew a walk that forced in Xanders Vazquez with bases loaded. Jesse Alker stood in and burned the left fielder for a double that knocked in Haney, Junior Fermin, and Parks. The game went scoreless until Astacio led things off in the bottom of the 6th with an opposite field solo homerun. Later in the inning, Fermin shot a single into left field that scored Vazquez. A Wild pitch with bases loaded forced in Rio Russell. Mick Tinny then hit a sacrifice fly ball out to right field that scored Fermin. Another wild pitch scored Haney. Derek Deler then shot a double into left center that scored Alker. The Royals jumped out to a 13-1 lead in the bottom of the 6th. Faced with their last chance the Sand Sharks mounted up 2 runs in the top of the 7th, but it was not enough to stop the Royals as the game ended in a 7 inning mercy rule 13-3.

The Royals played their 22nd home game in a row, during which they were 13-9 winning the 33rd Annual Warner Invitational. Today's win gives them a winning streak of three, they last fell to NCAA D-II Purdue University-Northwest. The Royals will play their 23rd and 24th home games again tomorrow finishing out the series against the Sand Sharks.
