GAME 1
With the defense starting strong, the Lady Royals shut down Calumet's first 3 batters no problem.
Cortney Bunker lead the Royals off with a single, and
Chantal Crockett grounded out to advance Bunker to second.
Sara Bruno hit a hot shot single to right center allowing Bunker to score. The Lady Royals were only able to put up 1 run in the first game, but solid defense and stellar pitching allowed the girls to hold the Crimson Wave to a 1-0 ball game.
Sylvia Welsh pitched 7 innings and only allowed 3 hits, 1 walk, and a hit by pitch. She tacked up 9 strike outs on the day.
GAME 2
Starting off the second game for the Lady Royals,
Cortney Bunker drew a walk for her first at bat.
Chantal Crockett hit a single that allowed Bunker to reach third, and
Sara Bruno set a shot to left field drawing an error that scored Bunker. The shot moved Crockett to third and left S. Bruno standing on second. Briana Barrios bunted to the short stop for a base hit allowing Crockett to score and S. Bruno to advance to third. Brittney Winget grounded out to the short stop, scoring S. Bruno and leaving the inning 3-0. During the game Bunker reached an 11-game hitting streak. Although the Lady Royals were only able to get 3 runs, the defense held the Crimson Wave to no runs. Barrios threw out 2 of the Tide's runners stealing second. The 2 wins today mark a 7-game win streak for the Royals.
