No. 24 Royals Ground Eagles In Offensive Attack Claiming Both Games Of Double Header

LAKE WALES, Fla. – The No. 24 Lady Royals used an offense outpour of 17 runs in just 10 innings to complete the run rule in both games of the double header.

GAME 1

The Lady Royals came out hot in the first game against Trinity Baptist. The scoring started in the bottom of the 1st. Cortney Bunker started things off with a walk. Chantal Crockett followed suit with another walk advancing Bunker to second. Sara Bruno doubled down the left field line that allowed Crockett and Bunker to score starting the game off 2-0. Brittany Winget then walked during her at bat. Madison Taylor then singled through the left side advancing S. Bruno to third and Winget to second. Megan Hammett grounded out but, it would allow S. Bruno to score and advanced Winget and Taylor. The inning ended with a score of 3-0. The Lady Royals added another run in the bottom of the 2nd. Kasey Heslin walked and during the next at bat she stole second. S. Bruno doubled again allowing Heslin to score from second, pushing the score to 4-0. The eagles in the top of the 3rd answered back with a run of their own making the score 4-1. Warner then put up another at the bottom of the 3rd.  Winget doubled to right center starting off the inning. Taylor then doubled down the left field line allowing Winget to score making the score 5-1. The last few runs came in the bottom of the 5th. Winget singled to start of the hitting for the Lady Royals. Taylor then singled advancing Winget to second. Hammett bunted for single loading the bases. Kayla Bruno sent a shot and tripled scoring the runners on base making the score 8-1. The last run came on a pass ball that allowed K. Bruno to score ending the first game early at 9-1.

Sylvia Welsh pitched the 5 innings. She allowed 5 hits, 1 run, 1 walk and 2 strike outs.

GAME 2

The Lady Royals went ahead in the score in the bottom of 2nd. Megan Hammett doubled to right center to start things off. Kasey Heslin then doubled down the left field line to score Hammett for the first run of the game. Cortney Bunker walked her at bat. Chantal Crockett sent a single to move the runners loading the bases. Sara Bruno singled but Bunker was out at second due to interference and Heslin was asked back to third, and Crockett was moved to second. S. Bruno during the next at bat stole second but during the confusion, Heslin was able to score moving the score to 2-0 on the game. The flood gates opened up in the bottom of the 4th for Warner. Kayla Bruno started things off with a single. Heslin reached first on a fielder's choice and K. Bruno was safe at second due to an error by the Eagles short stop. Bunker doubled to right field K. Bruno to score and Heslin advanced to third. Crockett bunted but Heslin was out at home due to a fielder's choice. Crockett stole second on the next at bat and Bunker advanced home on the throw.  The score was 4-0. S. Bruno then doubled scoring Crockett. Brittany Winget singled to left center, where she advanced to second on the throw and S. Bruno scored making the score 6-0. Brianna Barrios singled through the middle allowing Winget to score ending the inning with a score of 7-0. In the bottom of the 5th one more run was added to end the game. Bunker shot a double to center field. She then stole third during the next at bat. Crockett then reached on an error by the second base and it allowed Bunker to score ending the game 8-0 in the 5th for the Lady Royals.

The win went to Brooke Olinger. She pitched for 4 innings where she allowed for 4 hits, 1 walk, and 2 strike outs. Jordan Lewis finished the last inning allowing the defense to finish and be able to get back in to score for the end of the game.
