No. 24 Royals Split With Warriors Winning 10 Inning Thriller

BABSON PARK, Fla. – The Warner Royals split their double header with the rival and TSC foe the Webber International University Warriors. Sylvia Welsh continued her dominance in the circle earning her 12th win of the year throwing all 10 innings only surrendering 5 hits.

GAME 1 WU 6, WIU 4 (10 Innings)

The Lady Royals started things off for the day in the top of the 3rd. Cortney Bunker shot a double to right center. Avery Cotterill singled to center field, an error by Webber's center fielder and she was able to advance to third while scoring Bunker making the score 1-0. Webber racked up 2 runs in the bottom of the 3rd and adding another in the bottom of the 4th making the score 3-1. In the top of the 5th Sara Bruno walked to start things off. Avery Cotterill sac bunted to move S. Bruno to second. Madison Taylor came up and doubled to right center scoring S. Bruno making the score 3-2. The Lady Royals tied the game up in the top of the 6th. Megan Hammett doubled to left center to start things off. Kayla Bruno fouled out on the right side to Webber's catcher but it allowed Hammett to move to third. Kasey Heslin came up and reached on a fielder's choice that allowed Hammett to score tying the game up to 3-3. In the top of the 9th, Mckenzye Bobb was placed on second for the Texas Tie Breaker. K. Bruno laid a sac bunt down to move Bobb to third. Bunker then singled up the middle scoring Bobb putting the Lady Royals ahead 4-3. The Warriors tied it back up in bottom of the 9th. In the top of the 10th, S. Bruno was placed on second. Cotterill laid a sac bunt down to move S. Bruno to third. Taylor singled to right center scoring S. Bruno. Brittany Winget then singled through the left side moving Taylor to second. Hammett hit into a fielder's choice where Winget was out at second, Taylor advanced to third, and Hammett was safe at first. K. Bruno singled on the left scoring Taylor. The Lady Royals ended the game 6-4 coming out on top.

Sylvia Welsh pitched all 10 innings allowing only 5 hits, 4 runs, 2 walks, and 1 strike out.

GAME 2 WU 1, WIU 4

Warner University was not so lucky in the second game. The Lady Royals only run came in the top of the 3rd. Kasey Heslin started things off with a single down the left field line. During the next at bat, Heslin stole second. Cortney Bunker singled on the left side moving Heslin to third. Although Chantal Crockett grounded into a double play, Heslin was able to score. Unfortunately Webber International put up 4 runs in the bottom of the 4th. The Lady Royals we're not able to answer back.

Brooke Olinger started the first 3 innings. She allowed for 5 hits, 4 runs, and 2 walks. Jordan Lewis finished the last 3 allowing only 1 hit.
