MIAMI GARDENS – FLA. The Lady Royals were on the road again this weekend in Miami Gardens where they are participating in the St. Thomas University Classic Tournament. As day one of the tournament came to a close, the Royals walked away falling short in both games today; one to Missouri Valley College, and one to NAIA #25 University of Jamestown.
Game one took place at 11:00 A.M. against the Missouri Valley College Vikings. Warner barely dropped the first two sets by scores of 25-23 but fought back in the next two to win them with identical scores of 25-19. Unfortunately the Royals dropped the determining match 15-12. During this game, Warner was able to collect totals of 51 kills and 88 digs.
Andrea Lorenz shined on defense with a season high of 31 digs, and
Breeanna Navarro led the offense yet again with 13 kills.
Alyanna Correia secured 5 points all on her own with 5 aces.
Game two was played at 3:00 P.M. against #25 University of Jamestown. The NAIA powerhouse was able to effectively shut down the Royals by scores of 25-11, 25-17, and 25-21. The offense was led by
Cheyenne Miller who had 8 kills, followed by
Breeanna Navarro and
Alexandra Gonzalez who combined for 10 kills. Also,
Raygen Lee came away from this game with a total of 14 assists.
Day 2 of the STU Classic begins tomorrow as the Royals will take on #3 Missouri Baptist University at 9:00 A.M. followed by Rochester College at 11:00 A.M.
