Royals Blanked By Bobcats For First Sun Conference Loss

LAKE WALES, Fla – The Royals took the field tonight against the St. Thomas University Bobcats and despite a strong defensive effort by the Royals the Bobcats were able to get the win 2-0. Tonight's match was a defense battle from start to finish as the match only saw 18 total shots, 9 by the Royals and 9 by the Bobcats. The Royals fall to 8-2 on the year after tonight's loss.

The first half started uncharacteristically for the Royals as the team struggled to find rhythm on the offensive side of the ball.

In the 11th minute the Bobcats were able to get an early 1-0 lead when #5 Romario Atkinson was able to slip past the defense and shake Royals goalie Angelo Neto to find the back of the net.

As the first half continued the Royals continued to struggle on offense as they were only to post 4 shots in the entire half.

The Bobcats were able to post 6 shots in the half and in the 43rd minute the Bobcats yet again found the back of the net off a rebound goal by #29 Rodrigo Selaimen.

The Bobcats would lead 2-0 as the teams headed into halftime.

The 2nd half started with the Bobcats applying the pressure on offense, however, the Royals defense was prepared for the challenge and was able to keep the Bobcats at bay and began to apply offensive pressure of their own.

Unfortunately for Warner they were never able to get an open look and every shot they took was contested by at least 2 Bobcats.

As the half continued the Royals kept applying pressure on defense and began to push the ball up towards the Bobcats side of the pitch. Despite the strong effort by the Royal's defense their offense was never quite able to get into a groove as they were only able to post 9 shots on the night; the Royals averaged 18 shots per game coming into the match.

Despite some late offensive pressure by the Royals, they were never able to find pay dirt and score a goal as they fall to the Bobcats 2-0; this is the first shutout loss for the Warriors this year.
This would be the first conference loss for the Royals, as their conference record would drop to 2-1 after tonight's loss.

The Men's next match will be their first road match of the season as they will travel to Lakeland, Fla to play conference opponent Southeastern University. The match will be played this Wednesday September 26 at 730 PM.
