LAKE WALES, Fla – Last night our Warner University Men's soccer team traveled to Lakeland, Fla to take on the Southeastern University Fire for their first road match of the year, the match would end with the Fire coming away victorious 5-3.
In the first half the Fire jumped ahead to a 3-0 lead by the 21
st minutes, as three different players for the Southeastern had found the back of the net.
This is the most adversity the Royals have faced all season but they were not out of the fight. In the 41
st minute, Royals forward
Daniel Rodriguez was able to find the back of the net for the 5
th time this season as he gave the Royals their first goal of the match.
The teams would head into half time with the Fire ahead of the Royals 3-1.
Southeastern started the 2
nd half just as fast as the 1
st and were able to knock in 2 goals in the first ten minutes of the half. Jake Van Der Luit and Bruno Henrique both notched 2 goals for the Fire on the game.
The Fire would lead the match 5-1 but the Royals were not done scoring; in the 63
rd minutes forward
Daniel Rodriguez was able to score another goal, bringing his season total to 6. Twenty minutes later #3
Kenolson Collin blasted a shot past the goalie to score the Royals 3
rd goal of the match.
Unfortunately for the Royals they were not able to overcome the large deficit and fell to the Fire 5-3. The Royals are now 8-3 on the season and are 2-2 in conference play.
The Royals head across the highway this weekend to play the second installment of this years Crooked Lake Cup. The Royals and Warriors are set to play at 10 AM this Saturday, September 29.
