LAKE WALES - FLA.Tonight the Warner Women's Volleyball Team took on conference opponent the College of Coastal Georgia Mariners in a match at home.
It was the Royals who drew first blood, taking the first set by a score of 25-19. After jumping ahead several points, the Mariners attempted a comeback but were sniffed out by the Royals in the end after strong kills from
Breeanna Navarro and
Sydney Ackermann, and the match winning point came from a kill by
Alyanna Correia.
Set two saw an exhilarating conclusion as Coastal took it by a score of 30-28. It was a point for point match with a total of 17 lead changes.
Several miscues proved to be the Achilles heal for the Royals in the third set. The Mariners took advantage of this as they took this set by a score of 25-22.
Set four began with all of the momentum going for the Mariners as they jumped to a quick 6-2 lead. The Royals could not get ahead in this set and fell by a score of 16-25.
The Lady Royals will return back to the Turner Athletic Center in yet another home conference matchup this Saturday against St. Thomas University at 2:00 PM.
