Warner Men’s Basketball – Royals and Bobcats To Square Off In TSC Game Of The Week

LAKE WALES, Fla. – The NAIA #21 Warner Royals have been selected for the third time this season for The Sun Conference Game of the Week which will take place Saturday, January 4th, 2019 against the visiting Bobcats of St. Thomas University. 
 
Last season it was the Bobcats that bested the Royals twice in TSC play. The first game the Bobcats were ranked NAIA #14 and defeated the Royals 79-89. The second meeting between the two, it was the NAIA #9 Bobcats that narrowly squeaked by defeating the Royals 89-94. 
 
Warner is primed and ready for the strongly developing rivalry between the two. Royals Head Coach, Sean Hanrahan said "We have always had an intense rivalry with St. Thomas. Both teams have been fighting atop of the conference for many years. It's an exciting challenge to welcome them into the Turner Athletic Center."
 
The Royals have a three game winning streak taking down Midland, Rio Grande and Florida Memorial. They also have won four straight games inside of The Sun Conference.

Headlines:
 
- St. Thomas and 21st-ranked Warner will face off on Saturday for sole possession of second place as we approach the mid-way point of the conference season.
- St. Thomas snapped a three-game skid on Thursday night when they defeated Webber 1-83 in Miami Gardens. The three loses came against NCAA DII Drury, #13 Indiana Tech and #10 Cornerstone. The Bobcats' lone conference lone was against then RV Coastal Georgia.
- STU has outscored conference opponents by 10 point in their four conference wins. Four of the six conference games for the Bobcats have been at home. The Bobcats are 2-1 in true road games this season.
- Warner has won three straight and six of their last eight games. Their two loses in that stretch came against #19 St. Francis (Ind.) and #4 Indiana Wesleyan in the SEU Invitational. Five of their six loses have come against teams ranked in the top 20.
- The Royals are 5-1 in TSC play. Their lone conference loss was on the road against then 11th-ranked Southeaster by five points, 86-81. The Fire have since moved up into the top ten of the coaches poll.
- Warner is a perfect 6-0 at home this season.
