Warner Men’s Soccer – Crooked Lake Cup Heads To Webber For First Time Since 2016

Lake Wales, Fla.- This was the 24th Crooked Lake Cup match between Webber and Warner. Warner led the all-time series 14-8-1 coming into the night.

Webber took an early 1-0 lead in the 2nd minute of the first half when David Negrin Ruiz knocked in a free kick from just outside the box. Not long after in the 6th minute Ma Fernandez Sassoni found net and made the game 2-0 putting pressure on the Royals. The Royals offense worked hard to rifling off 7 shots but were unsuccessful by ending the first half Webber in the lead 2-0.

This rivalry matchup is always set to be a good battle, throughout the game there were 6 total yellow cards with five out of the six were handed to the Warriors.

In the second half, the Royals were aggressive on the attack with 8 shots. The Warriors kept hold of their lead and in the 86th minute David Negrin Ruiz struck net again for the second time in the game and his 6th goal of the season. 

The Royals fall to 5-6 overall and 2-3 in Sun Conference play. They have a week's break before that welcome Ave Maria into town for the Royals senior night.
