Warner Football – First Half Turnovers Plague Royals In Second MSC Loss

LAKELAND, Fla. – The Royals offense struggled to move the ball last night against the Faulkner Eagles where turnovers spelled an Eagles win of 51-20.

After winning the toss, the Faulkner Eagles started the game with an onside kick and after a fight for the ball, it was the Eagles that came away with it. They capped off a 5-play 55-yard drive with a Touchdown pass.

Down 14-0, the Royals Keon Brown took an 18-yard scramble into the end zone on his only carry of the night that cut the lead of the Eagles early in the first half 7-14.

After 28 unanswered Eagles points, the Royals got on the board again late in the 3rd quarter when Dylan Blair connected with Michael Baskin in a 22-yard TD pass.

With 1:00 remaining on the clock, James Eddings punched a 3-yard run into the end zone giving the game it's final score of 51-20 in favor of the Eagles.

Royals quarterback Dylan Blair faced some difficulties last night as he was sacked a season high 4 times and felt the pressure throwing 3 interceptions, also a season high.

Javon Wilson led the way in the ground attack and in receptions as he finished with 17 carries for 79-yards and 3 catches for 45-yards. Michael Baskin(41), James Eddings(34), Buddy Edwards(31), and Keon Brown(29) all had 3 catches in the game mounting up 29+ yards a piece.

Kama Jackson led the Royals in tackles with 7, also would have added a pick 6 for 80-yards but a personal foul brought it back for an interception and a 71-yard return. Cameron Davis picked up his second career sack and first of the season last night along with a forced fumble for his second of the season. Davis put together 5 tackles with 2.5 tackles for a loss of 13 total yards.

The Royals will have to hit the reset button as they hit the road to No. 12 Southeastern University next weekend in another tough matchup in the Mid-South Sun Division.
