LAKE WALES, Fla. – The Warner University Women's Basketball Team went head to head with Sun Conference opponent St. Thomas University. Despite a strong game, the Royals fell 52-61. The Royals fall to an overall record of 1-5 and 0-2 in Sun-Conference play.
The Royals failed to snap the Bobcats streak that now extends to a 22-0 all-time against the Royals in a series that dates back to 2010. The last game against the Bobcats the Royals fell 36-54.
The Royals struck first blood and held lead until the last 4 seconds when the Bobcats hit a 3-pointer ending the first half 27-29.
Throughout the game there were four times the score was tied and six lead changes. The final five minutes the Royals and the Bobcats were tied 47-47. The Bobcats were able to pull through and thanks to a late offensive charge came away with a 51-62 victory over the Royals.
Troi Grant lead the team with 21 total points with 8 rebounds, 4 offensive and 4 defensive.
Alaina St. Clair had 15 total points with 4 rebounds defensively. Clair was named NCCAA National Player of the week for her efforts during last week's games.
D'Asia James led the team with 14 rebounds, 5 offensive and 9 defensive. James has been playing lights out for the Royals with a total of 61 points, 50 rebounds, 7 steals, 6 assists and shooting 51% from the field.
