LAKE WALES, Fla. – For the third straight time the Royals have defeated the Lions of Florida Memorial. NAIA No. 21 Warner basketball returns to it's winning ways taking down the Lions 84-73
The Royals hold a commanding lead in the overall series between the two schools of 29-12 dating back to 2006. The Royals are also 5-6 in the last six meetings.
A slow first half saw the Royals trailing at halftime for just the second time this season. The Royals made just 30% of their shots from the field and only 22% from the 3-point line. The Royals trailed the Lions by eight, 42-34 heading into the locker room.
The Royals came out with a vengeance in the second half getting back to their accurate ways hitting 50% of their shots from the field and beyond the arch. Just two minutes in to the second half, the Royals used a 14-4 scoring spree to cut into the Lions lead. After several lead changes, the Royals took over with 9 minutes left in the game and never looked back as they added 50 second half points taking the 84-73 victory.
Offensively,
Maxwell Benoit led the way for the Royals with 19 points making 8-11 from the charity stripe.
Jaquez Dickerson improved on his national rankings tonight. Ranked No. 38 in the NAIA in total blocks with 8, Dickerson added 2 giving him 10 on the season. He also ranks No. 39 in the nation in rebounding as he added 10 more tonight giving him 71 season boards.
