MOUNT VERNON, Ga. – Despite a heavy foul second half by the Royals, they were able to fend off the Knights 107-100.
After the Royals took a 53-30 lead into the locker room at halftime, the Knights fought back adding 70 second half points. However, the Royals built on their 53 and stayed consistent hitting 67% of shots from the field to add 54 and bring home there second victory in the Paul Thigpen Classic.
For the second straight game and fourth time this season the No. 21 Warner University Royals have posted triple digits. It was the first time in the two schools history they've met on the court and the Middle Georgia State University Knights brought in a 3-1 start to their season.
With tonight's win the Royals extend their streak to six straight to start the season.
Maxwell Benoit held the hot hand finishing the night with 24 points hitting 9-16 from the field before fouling out.
Joshua Rathell nailed 6-8 from the field while hitting 5-5 from the charity stripe for his 17 points on the night.
Anterrius Washington never missed as he finished his evening 8-8 from the field and pulled in 5 boards.
Darryl Mercer shot 6-8 from the field and aided with 7 assist before fouling out.
Jaquez Dickerson made a huge impact on the night with 12 boards and a block.
Tonight's win improves the Royals to 6-0 on the season
