Warner Baseball – Royals Extend Win Streak To Nine Straight Sweeping The Four Game Series From Judson

LAKE WALES, Fla. – Warner finished their 4 game series against the Judson Eagles by taking both games in today's double header by a combined score of 20-6.
 
With today's 2 wins the Royals have extended their win streak to 9 and have outscored opponents 87-29 during the 9 game stretch.
 
The Royals won game 1 today by a score of 8-2, hitting .346 as a team with 4 extra base hits.
 
Warner won game 2 by a score of 12-4, hitting .481 with 5 extra base hits and outscored the Eagles 44-10 in their 4 game series this week.
 
Both games today were scheduled for 7 innings.

Andres Fernandez made his 5th start of the year on the mound for the Royals, Fernandez entered the day with a 2-2 record on the year and a 5.84 ERA.
 
Andres Fernandez came out and shut the Eagles down with a 7 pitch inning to start things off in the top of the 1st.
 
Fernandez continued to pitch well from there, notching his 1st complete game of the year on the mound and earning his 3rd win of the season in the 8-2 victory. Fernandez struck out 8 Eagles batter, only giving up 6 hits in 7 innings pitched.

Warner kept the offense rolling into the 1st game of today's double header, scoring 4 runs in the 1st inning after the Eagles starting pitcher walked the bases loaded to open the bottom half of the inning and hits from Ronny Penalo and Trey Matthews.
 
The Royals added 2 more runs in the bottom of the 3rd inning off a solo homerun from Xanders Vazquez and another RBI single from Trey Matthews.
 
Judson got on the board in the top of the 4th inning when they knocked a single up the middle driving in 1 run.

Jake Leiffer pitched 4 innings, struck out 6 and 1 ER before being relieved by Tristan Starling. Starling struggled this afternoon, walking the bases loaded before being relieved by Kody Smith in the 5th inning.
 
Smith pitched 2 innings, striking out 5 batters before passing the ball off to Taylor Briggs, who came in a shut the door on the day for the Royals, pitching the 7th inning of game 2, producing 2 ground outs and fly out to end the game.

Once again the Royals jumped on the board in the bottom of the 1st inning, scoring 2 runs off a double by Ronny Penalo and a SAC Fly by Josh Strickland.
 
The Royals added 3 more runs in the bottom off the 2nd inning off a 2 run homerun by Alfred Brown and a SAC Fly by Xanders Vazquez.
 
Judson got on the board in the top half of the 3rd inning, scoring 1 run off a solo homerun to left field.
 
Warner answered with a run of their own in the bottom of the 4th inning when Scott Fickas lined out to center field which allowed Alfred Brown to tag up from 3rd base.
 
The Eagles did most of their damage in the top of the 5th inning, scoring 3 runs off walks and ground balls to the infield.
 
Warner exploded in the bottom of the 5th inning when Alex Vazquez came off the bench to pinch hit for Alfred Brown and smashed a ball over the left field fence for the 1st grand slam of the year for the Royals.
 
Ronny Penalo notched his 3rd hit of the game when he beat out a ground ball to the 6-hole, adding 1 more run to the Royals score. Rafael Astacio grounded out to 2nd base, bringing home the 12th run of the game for the Royals.
 
Kody Smith and Taylor Briggs held it down for the Royals, pitching lights out in the 6th and 7th innings to seal the 12-4 win.
