WEST POINT, Ga. – The Royals offense out shot Point but it was Skyhawks that found the net and took the win 1-0.
The Royals fell for the third straight time to Point University. Since 2015 the series stands at 3-1 in favor of the Skyhawks. The last win for the Royals came on November 21, 2015 where they defeated Point 1-0.
Tonight's game was a defensive battle. The Royals held the Skyhawks to just 3 shots in the game. However, Point made all 3 shots count as they were all on goal and their second shot found the back of the net.
It was a low foul game as there were just 3 fouls. 7 total corner kicks were taken with the Royals on the kicking end of 5 of those.
Four Royals registered shots on the night. Alexus Garcia rocked 3 shots with 1 on goal.
Zabella Thompson rifled off 2 shots nearly missing a chance in front of the net in the second half.
Kirstin Campbell and
Cristina Clements both registered a shot on the night.
It was a bitter sweet night for Warner as they played a good game, it was just the accurate placement of the Skyhawks in the 55
thminute that gave Point the 1-0 victory.
The Skyhawks improve to 2-0 on the early season having defeated Faulkner University previously. The Royals dropped their season opener moving to 0-1 and shift their sights to NAIA (RV) Truett Mcconnell on Saturday at 4:30 p.m.
