LAKE WALES, Fla. – The Crooked Lake Rivalry is always a great matchup. The Royals fell to the Warriors 2-3 in Overtime.
The start of the season has watched the Royals fall to 0-4 after last night's overtime loss to the Warriors. However, the Royals continue to play strong soccer awaiting their string of good luck.
The Royals defense is strong as it's manned by
Emma Marshall,
Brooke Blommel and
Morgan Newhart. Their efforts held a heavily offensive focused attack by the Warriors to just 12 shots. The 12 shots for the Warriors is an early season low as they average 18 shots per game.
Offensively,
Maddie Manzke broke through and scored the first collegiate goal of her career with the assist credited to
Cristina Clements.
Brooke Blommel netted the 3
rdgoal of her career as she charged a ball from about 30 yards out and nailed a high rising floater into the net.
The Royals are strengthening on both sides of the ball and have played some very tough non-conference opponents by design. They hit the road this weekend to take on Florida National University.
