LAKE WALES, Fla. - This afternoon marked the 29th meeting between the Webber International Warriors and the Warner Royals Women's Basketball teams since 2007 and for the 19th time the Warriors have came away victorious. The rivalry game ended with a final score of 70 to 53 in favor of Webber.
In the first half, Warner's Troi Grant put on a three-point shooting clinic, going 3-3 from beyond the arc and finishing the half with a game-high 17 points and 3 steals; Grant ranks #29 in the nation with 41 total steals coming into the game.
Despite the strong effort from one of their leaders, the Royals trailed Webber International 41-30 at the end of the first half.
By the end of the 3rd quarter the Warriors had pulled ahead by double digits and were on route to grabbing their 9th win of the season (9-8 overall and 3-4 in TSC games). With the loss the Royals move to 2-16 with an 0-7 Sun-Conference record.
With 4:44 left in the game the Royals trailed the rival Warriors 65-44 and would eventually fall to Webber 70-53.
Webber made a terrific half time adjustment and contained the Royals leading scorer, Troi Grant, to only 5 points in the second half, all scored in the 4th quarter; Grant would finish the game with a game-high 22 points, 7 rebounds, 4 steals, and 1 assist.
