PALOS HIEGHTS, Ill. – Warner University received its first NCCAA Invitational bid and entered as the No. 4 seed out of eight teams.
The first day the Royals earned back to back sweeps over Trinity Christian College and Maranatha Baptist University to put them at 2-0 in Pool A.
Their third match and final match of pool play was against a tough NAIA (RV) and NCCAA No. 1 seed Ottawa (Ariz.). Ottawa handed the Royals their only loss in the invitational at 0-3 (25-22, 25-20, 25-22).
Augusto Silva shined in the match with 10 kills and 6 blocks.
David Hernandez finished with 9 kills and 4 digs;
Franky Zamora had 17 assists.
The Royals fell sending their Pool Play record to 2-1 and received a bid into the third place match. No. 4 Warner paired up with No. 7 Judson (Ill.) and defeated the Eagles 3-1 (25-19, 23-25, 25-19, 25-22).

Augusto Silva finished the match with 13 kills a piece.
Franky Zamora and
Jose Gonzalez each posted 4 blocks in the match.
Franky Zamora had an overpowering 35 assists. Esdras Panchame led the way defensively with 12 digs.
Jose Gonzalez was named to the 2020 NCCAA National Invitational All-Tournament team. Gonzalez finished the tournament with 25 kills, 2 digs, 2 solo blocks, and 7 blocking assists.
