NORTH MIAMI, Fla. – Warner earns crucial Sun Conference win in dominating fashion over Johnson & Wales.
The Royals currently sit in sixth place in The Sun Conference and inch closer earning their fifth TSC win. A Webber loss to Keiser tonight would mean the Royals and Warriors would be tied for fifth place and that much closer to sealing up a TSC postseason appearance.
Warner faces a tough schedule to finish out their regular season play. Saturday, they take on NAIA No. 14 Keiser University. Then next week take on NAIA No. 20 Southeastern, followed by NAIA (RV) Ave Maria. Coincidentally the TSC No. 1, 2, and 3. There could still be a massive shift in the Sun Conference depending on what happens in the next week.
Tonight, the Royal got back to their winning ways taking down the Wildcats 75-53. The win notches the 16
th victory on the season for the Royals.
Darryl Mercer showed off his accuracy tonight putting up one-point shy of his season high at 21 points. He was 7-10 from the field and nailed 6-6 from the charity stripe and also brought down 7 boards.
Maxwell Benoit added 15 points and 8 rebounds.
Anterrius Washington finished the night in double-digits with 12 points and 6 rebounds going 5-6 from the field.
Bart Schild also added 10 points and put up 2 blocks.
It was a big win for the Royals that averaged 55% from the field on the night and shot 62% in the second half alone.
The Royals improve to 16-8 on the season and 5-7 in The Sun Conference. Next up, Warner welcomes No. 14 Keiser into the Turner Athletic Center on Saturday for one of the biggest games of the regular season.
